Waarom huwelijksreis in Canggu?
Huwelijksreis Hotels in Canggu

Suenyo Eco Retreat
5 starAffordable luxuryNature viewsJungle 20 mins from CangguLocated in a secluded in a jungle river valley, but still only 20 minutes drive from Canggu. That is the promise of the 5-star boutique Suenyo Eco Retreat. Read our full review, as we were able to stay in one of their 5 spectacular private bamboo "Paviljons" with private pool and bathtub overlooking a jungle river. Our Pavilion featured spectacular bamboo architecture, unobstructed jungle river views, a private infinity pool and riverside bathtub.
There are many positive things to say about this place. We recommend trying the food here, while its a very small resort (5 rooms only) they clearly spent a lot of effort on perfecting their menu with unique twists on traditional Indonesian dishes. You can have a Balinese massage as a couple at a calm spot next to the river. And if you get bored, Canggu and Tanah Lot are only a short drive away (you do have to climb a bunch of stairs out of the valley to get back to the reception though!).

Ametis Villas
5 starSplurgePrivate villasCangguOn the expensive side, but a great option for couples who want to be right in the bustle of Canggu, but still be able to retreat to a beautiful secluded private pool villa. Ametis is really central, a 2 minute walk from the most popular beach in Canggu: Batu Bolong. Great for surfing couples, or those who would like to learn to surf. At night this beach turns into a party area, so Ametis is a great spot too for those who would like to walk home after exploring the famous Canggu nightlife. The downside is that you might still hear some party noice even in your private villa.
The four villas offered by Ametis all have a private pool and garden, and their own private butler! You can experience private dining in your own villa, however there are also many great restaurants in walking distance around Canggu.

It's worth taking a walk through the resort before your massage, as it has a beautiful waterlily pond to take pictures together. We were welcomed at the reception and taken to the massage cabin. They have two massage beds next to each other, so it is perfect for couples to relax after a day on the beach or to relax your muscles after surfing. Olivia enjoyed a stronger Javanese massage while Dirk opted for the more gentle traditional Balinese massage. The massage was good, and afterwards we were treated with ginger tea and a whole range of Indonesian sweets.

★ Our Fav!Pererenan Sunset
Pererenan BeachRead More ↓While Pererenan is part of the popular tourist and expat town of Canggu, the experience at sunset here is still quite local. Many Balinese families enjoy the sunset here too, especially on the weekend. Many food stalls sell simple snacks and drinks to enjoy at fair rates, from sate meat skewers to delicious grilled corn. Its our favorite place to go for a simple sunset walk in the Canggu area. If you are staying in the Batu Bolong area of Canggu, its only a couple minutes walk up the beach.

It is located around 20 minutes north-west of Canggu, on the coast of Tabanan regency. You'll find a beautiful architectural Balinese gate and numerous art shops selling local handicrafts and other items such as T-shirts, Balinese sarongs, hats, sandals, accessories, paintings, and woodcarvings. Although nights at sunset are the most promising time of day to visit the temple because of the stunning scenery, expect to see more people during this time.

At the canyon, you will participate in canyoning activities, and at the Blue Lagoon Beach you will have the opportunity to snorkel with gear provided. Explore Canggu Nightlife
ClubNightlifeAll around CangguRead More ↓Canggu has some of the best nightlife globally, with beach bars, clubs, and chic destinations scattered around the coastal area. In Canggu, many of the most excellent venues to go out at night are practically right on the beach, making them popular with surfers seeking cold drinks, tasty meals, and great music. Even more wonderful are the expansive seascapes and stunning sunsets that accompany them.
For honeymooners looking to enjoy Canggu's nightlife, we have many recommendations, depending on your taste: The Lawn for beachfront clubbing, Green Door and Shady Pig for fancy indoor clubs, Black Sand Brewery for craft beers, DEUS Ex Machina for live music, and Sand Bar for cocktails on the beach after midnight.

Finns Beach Club
BeachClubBerawa near CangguRead More ↓Finns claims to be the "world's best beach club". It definitely is the best beach club in Bali if you are looking to celebrate and party. Finns, strategically located on Berawa beach between Canggu and Seminyak, is one of the most well known beach clubs in Bali. You can join a beach party at Finns 365 days a year.
Finns is great for those who like to party: DJs are playing even during the day, they always have performers like dancers and musicians playing. It feels like a party well before sunset. It also means it might not be the best fit if you are looking for a calm romantic experience.
Beyond party and performances, we like to simply watch the surf from one of the infinity pools at Finns. The food is very good too and fairly priced for a beach club. You can order multiple cuisines from the comfort of your day-bed, including Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Indian and Indonesian.
Due to its popularity, Finns expanded a lot lately. While they still have the original beach club with bamboo bar and ocean-facing pool, there now are new Finns VIP and Finns Beach Party areas. These are more spacious and feel more premium.
Finns is popular, and can sometimes get very crowded. Definitely book your sunbeds in advance. They require a minimum spend amount. The Beach Party area is the most crowded and lively, which is part of the charm of Finns, but the VIP Area might be a good choice if you like a little more personal space.

La Brisa Beach Club
BeachClubCangguRead More ↓La Brisa is hard to describe as its a very unique place. Its a bunch of simple wooden buildings surrounded by palm trees and with a pool in between. But somehow it all fits perfectly together, making it our favorite spot to hang out in Canggu, especially as the sun is setting. Food here is excellent as well, we love their poke bowl.
The amount of sunbeds and relaxed seating options here is limited compared to some of the other beach clubs. They have a lot of bean bags on the beach but they fill up fast. In any case, it is a very nice place to escape from the bustle of Canggu for a few hours - especially during sunset times.

Mount Batur Sunrise Hike + Hotsprings from Canggu

Munduk & Bedugul Day Trip from Canggu
NatureCultureDaytripPrivate tourPick-up in your Canggu HotelUlan Danu Temple is the first picture that shows up if you Google Bali. It might be the most iconic sight on the island, situated against Lake Beratan in the Bedugul region of Bali. But this region has more to offer than just the temple, and this PRIVATE TOUR is a great way to explore it!
The Bedugul region can easily be spotted on any map: it's where you see the 3 lakes towards the north of the island. These lakes are part of a massive volcanic crater region at high altitudes. This results in very distinct vegetation and a much cooler climate than you will find in most of Bali. A great place to escape the heath!
One stop during this tour is the Handara Gate, which is a great spot for memorable Bali Honeymoon pictures. The pretty Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are next, there is opportunity to swim at these.
Finally this tour will stop at a very romantic spot: an amazing viewpoint on the ridge of the crater from where you can see two lakes at once. We love this area a lot, and would even recommend you staying here for a few days (see our Munduk Honeymoon Guide), but this tour is also a great way to get to know the area!

★ Our Fav!JI Restaurant
Casual diningViewpointJapaneseBatu Bolong Beach, CangguRead More ↓Great viewpoint for sunset, where you can overlook the surfers catching the last waves of the day. We had really decent sushi here (try the "Tic Tac Toe" Chef Signature nigiris) and enjoyed creative mocktails, but the cocktails are supposed to be great too. The Green Tea Cheesecake is a worthy dessert to wrap up the dinner, and large enough for sharing. For the best experience book two ocean-view seats on the top floor in advance. We suggest reserving for 5:30PM as that allows you to enjoy your dinner during sunset.

★ Our Fav!Sa'Mesa Canggu
Casual diningItalianJl Tanah Barak streetRead More ↓The happiest dinner experience in Bali. During your honeymoon, you probably prefer having dinner in a private most of the time. Sa'mesa is completely different. Here, you are seated at a large table with strangers who may become your friends by the end of the night!
Due to popularity, Sa'Mesa now has two branches: one in Canggu and one in Seminyak. The popularity is understandable, as this restaurant offers amazing value. An 18-meal(!) Italian home-cooked dinner experience is served. This isn't fine dining, but it is a unique tasting menu sharing experience that is worth being part of. We loved the Burrata, home-baked breads, and fresh fish. To add to the experience, unlimited limoncello liquor is served for free. You can imagine the vibes by the end of the night, after many shots of limoncello, it feels like one big celebration!
18-Course sharing dinner: roughly 45$ pp (includes Limoncello).

★ Our Fav!SHUN Omakase Counter
Fine diningJapaneseBerawa, near CangguRead More ↓We've tried around 5 different Japanese Omakase chef tasting menus across Bali, and even experienced some in Japan. We can confidentially say that SHUN Omakase in Canggu is our absolute favorite in Bali, and comes very close to the experiences we had in Tokyo and Osaka.
Lead by Chef Mark Jeremie Oliver, a Filipino Chef that practiced the trades of the Japanese cuisine from a young age, the 11-seat restaurant does not look impressive from the outside. Tucked away under the large Komu hotel (a location they recently moved to) it is easy to pass by. However once inside, the experience was totally spectacular.
We joined the early 6:30PM timeslot for the 18-course Yugen Set. Make sure to be in time, because all guests experience the Omakase simultaneously, so you might miss out on dishes if you're late. All dishes are prepared right in front of your eyes, and everyone is seated along the bar. As the night progressed, we actually had conversations with our neighbors seated along the bar, making this a very social night out.
The experience started with five appetizers. We were explained that all fish is bought at the Toyusu Fish Market in Tokyo and flown in to Indonesia. This, in addition to the dry-aging fridge, explains why SHUN can serve so many types of fish you won't easily find elsewhere in Bali. One of our favorites was the dry aged Jukusei, but the first noodle dish was very unique too and the scallops were also great. Each appetizer came with unique sauces, soups and sometimes spectacular presentation.
After the appetizers we enjoyed multiple types of sashimi: kampachi, red snapper and otoro. The otoro (belly sashimi from a blue fin tuna) was extremely tasty, a completely different taste from the standard tuna sashimi that is usually served in Balinese restaurants.
Before our round of nigiri started, we were served salmon tartar with sea urchin and smoke herring caviar. This was one of our favorite bites, and a great intermezzo between the sashimi and nigiri. Even though we visited multiple Omakase restaurants before, we only learned today that you shouldn't use chopsticks for the nigiri in an Omakase restaurant, but instead just grab them between your fingers. Wasabi was already added by the chef. We were served some unique nigiri's, including engawa and hamachi.
Real A5 Miyasaki Wagyu beef was served as a main highlight of the 18-course set. While the portions are understandably small, it tasted just perfect. To wrap it all up, we enjoyed a rich miso soup before two kinds of dessert: an ice cream with a funny taste (a little too unique to our taste), and a delicious creamy layered cake with yellow jelly and strawberry decorated as a flower on top.
What we loved about this experience, apart from the delicious food and the intimate set-up, is that we felt very balanced after the dinner. We might be small eaters, but often with multi-course dinners we feel extremely full or bloated. That wasn't the case for us here at all.
We totally recommend this place for any lovers of real, authentic Japanese sushi. Just make sure to reserve in advance, as they only have 11 seats and the time slots are fixed.
18-Course Chef's Table Omekase Menu costs around 171$ pp plus 40$ for alcohol pairing .

ESKQ Bar Steak House
Casual diningCocktailsRomanticWestern Jl. Raya Babakan Canggu B51, Canggu, Bali 80361, IndonesiaRead More ↓ESKQ Bar Steak House is one of our go to picks for a proper date night in Canggu. We love that it's a wood fire steakhouse and wine bar with a genuinely romantic, unhurried feel, think smoky, perfectly charred steaks paired with a wine list running past fifty labels, and a kitchen that stays open until 2 AM for the nights you don't want to end. It's the kind of place where you can linger over a bottle of wine and a shared tomahawk steak, finished tableside, without anyone rushing you out the door. For honeymooners looking for a candlelit dinner that feels a little indulgent, this is one of our favorites in Canggu.

Te'amo Gastro-Bistro
Casual diningItalianRomanticCentral CangguRead More ↓Lovely spot located centrally in Canggu serving fairly priced Mediterranean food. The decor is unique, with its vibrant pink colors and art on the wall it stands out in Canggu. When we visited most guests were couples, so its a great destination for a casual date. A large kitchen is situated outside next to the terrace, where the chefs create grilled meats and fish as well as pasta's and pizza. We loved the burrata starter, which came with delicious hot flatbread straight out of the oven. For mains we tried the tuna pasta and grilled red snapper, and both tasted really good. Don't miss the pavlova dessert, its a great one to share. Do note that Te'Amo has an indoor and outdoor area, but neither are air conditioned, so dress lightly.

Hippie Fish
Casual diningCocktailsRead More ↓This is one of the most amazing sunset spots located just next to Pererenan Beach, a bit north of Canggu. Hippie Fish restaurant has a wide view of the ocean, where you can often spot surfers riding waves. We suggest you order their fish market package, as fish is what they specialize in, as reflected in their name. Most of the fish are fresh from the market, and the quality of the food is quite high. Their rooftop is an ideal romantic spot to admire the golden sunset that matches very well with soft music played in the background while sipping their signature cocktails.

Indigo
Fine diningJapaneseBerawa, CangguRead More ↓On the other side of the Canggu shortcut, in Berawa, you will find a great place for high-end Sushi. Its a 20-minute drive from Batu Bolong, but by car this can take a bit longer sometimes if there is a lot of traffic. But its worth the effort heading here!
Chef Morita Shigehiko worked at the first Michelin-star restaurant in Kyoto before opening Indigo. He describes his food as "innovative with a traditional approach".
Indigo does not have a set tasting menu, but they do have great à la carte options instead. When we visited we got the "new style" salmon sashimi as well as the Signature Sushi Set (order this twice, one for each of you), which cost only USD 15 per set. You'll probably want to try some more dishes after enjoying these dishes. Lovers of steak might try the actual Miyazaki Wagyu.

Crate Cafe
Breakfast & lunchBatu Bolong, CangguRead More ↓The place to be in Bali, especially for brunch or lunch. You can't reserve here, so expect some queuing during busy hours to order your food. Crate serves affordable and healthy food in large portions, so no wonder why its so popular. The crowds visiting Crate are very trendy, but apart from the art on the walls its a very simple place: you'll probably be seated on a literal crate or simple stool.

Murmur Restaurant Lounge
Casual diningShortcut CangguRead More ↓If you happen to be in Shortcut Canggu (which you likely will if you decide to go to Canggu), hop into Murmur Restaurant. The 2-storey restaurant offers a bit of everything: Slavik, Western, and Asian menus. We ordered the Authentic Tuna Poke Bowl, Beef Stroganoff, Tom Yum Soup, and Apple Pie. I was surprised by the quality of the food. The wide variety of food is very delicious! It is presented immaculately yet delicious in flavour.
Murmur’s interior is comfortable yet elegant, with a gaming area, a Shisha corner, and some spots for chilling with rice field views. It opens for brunch and closes late till 2 AM. So if you ended up partying in Canggu till late, this could be an alternative place to stop by for casual food.
Veelgestelde vragen

Canggu is located on Bali's west coast in Indonesia, approximately one hour drive from the airport. It's a bit further up from Seminyak.
How to get around in Canggu?
If you stay near Batu Bolong beach, you may walk. Renting a motorbike is the best way to get around, but traffic can be crazy. It's not the best place to learn! Taxis are cheap and easy to find all over.

Is Canggu a good Honeymoon destination?
It’s the most popular area in Bali right now. If you don't mind the crowds, you can have a great time in this place. It could be a great starting point to explore less discovered parts of the island through day-trips.
How long should we stay in Canggu?
We suggest you staying for two to three nights. Alternatively, consider making it your base and do some day tours to the rest of the island from Canggu. In that case you can stay longer!
