They are part of the luxury Ayana Resort in Jimbaran (between the airport and Uluwatu). This resort is famous for its spectacular bar on top of a rock in the Indian Ocean (great for couples to enoy the sunset!), as well as the stunning Kubu Beach, and countless restaurants, pool and wellness options. We had drinks for sunset at the Rock Bar and would recommend it - outside guests are welcomed if reserved in advance.

  The Viceroy offers villas for different budgets, starting with their private pool Terrace Villa, all the way up to the spectacular Viceroy Villa, boasting a spectacular large garden and pool featuring possibly Ubud's prettiest view. Their marble bathrooms with sunken or soaking bathtubs are traditional and magnificent. If you get tired of your private villa, they also have an outdoor café, a beautiful pool with a swim-up bar, a hillside spa, and a modern gym.

  Viceroy: the location is serene with views over the jungle, but it is still very close to Ubud town. It will only take around 5-10 minutes by car to get to Ubud's main street.

We did make an exception listing this place, as most cabins do not have a private pool - some of them offer a jacuzzi however, which is much better as this place is much cooler than most of Bali due to its altitude. Luxurious cabins offer breathtaking nature views over mountains and jungle all the way to the Java Sea.

  At night the sky lights up and the stars are so visible here they look like a city. Don't miss out on the bonfire! With only 6 cabins, Munduk cabin is the best luxury sanctuary you'll find in central Bali. The staff is super friendly and the on-site Ulekan restaurant is known as the best restaurant in the region (welcoming outside guests too).

  We try to book these villas often for couples using our honeymoon planning service as we think its one of the best options in Ubud, but as The Kayon only feature 5 of these villas, they are commonly sold out well in advance.

  One thing we love about the Kayon resort is that they organize a daily complimentary morning walk along beautiful rice paddies. A great active way to start your day! In addition, the staff here is extremely friendly and personal. Finally, the fact that this resort has its own waterfall which you can admire while enjoying an afternoon tea from a wooden deck should be enough reason to book this place a.s.a.p. before it sells out!
