Our favorite luxury Bali hotels
There are great hotel options in the surf & hipster town of Canggu too, however they can’t compete with the extravant luxury offered by some of the hotels in Uluwatu, Ubud and Seminyak. If you do want to stay in Canggu, check our Canggu Honeymoon Guide for some great accomodation options.
There are hundreds of hotels in Bali. This top 21 consists of absolute best 5-star hotels (all are rated at least 9 out of 10 on booking sites). You can’t go wrong booking any of them. The hotels are displayed in no particular order, we have just organized them by region of Bali:

- 6 Luxurious Hotels in Ubud
- 3 Luxurious Hotels in Seminyak

Luxurious hotels in Uluwatu
Uluwatu is located on the soutern tip of Bali, on the Bukit peninsula south of the airport. Uluwatu is a town on the cliffs that originally became popular amongst surfers, as one of the world’s best and most consistent waves can be found here. The region has a lot to offer, including some of the best beaches of Bali and a spectacular temple on the cliffs inhabited by monkeys. You won’t find better sunsets in Bali than in Uluwatu.
Below we list our favorite luxurious hotels in the region. Some are located north of Uluwatu in the Jimbaran area, while others are located on the cliffs on the south side of the peninsula. We have written an extensive guide for couples visiting Uluwatu on their honeymoon, make sure to check it out if you plan to stay in this area!

1. AYANA Resort and Spa
30m drive north of UluwatuLove it? Check prices now!
One of the most luxury hotels in Bali. This spectacular resort is located between the airport and Uluwatu, on a rocky beach at one of Bali's best sunset spots. You won't get bored at the Ayana. It features many pools, wellness options, a rock bar named after a massive rock formation that towers above it, and a beautiful boardwalk to watch the sunset.
At the AYANA, there are superb room and private villa options to choose from, including a one-bedroom oceanfront villa with private pool. A wide range of dining options is available, with Balinese, Italian, Mexican, Japanese and Tapas restaurants.
Tip: not staying at the AYANA? If capacity allows, a small group of outside visitors is allowed to visit the Rock Bar for sunset. This is a great romantic option, but make sure to book in advance.

Elevated above the limestone cliffs of Uluwatu, the Alila Villas is a 5-star paradise surrounded by stunning coastal vistas and a breath-taking view of the clear skies and ocean. Managed by the Hyatt hotel group, the luxury services here will be hard to find anywhere else in Bali. You cannot book a room here, all they offer are private villas!
Alila Villas is a 30 minutes drive from Denpasar Airport, close to Uluwatu on the south tip of Bali. Couples will love the 1-bedroom ocean-view pool villa with a king-sized bed and garden, a private pool, terrace, cabana, and a butler ready to help you 24 hours per day. Your holiday could not be any more luxurious!

3. Bvlgari Resort Bali
Uluwatu or PecatuLove it? Check prices now!
Having experienced Bvlgari Resort Bali firsthand, we can say that its setting is hard to beat. The resort is perched more than 150 meters above the Indian Ocean on the Uluwatu cliffs, and it holds a Forbes Five Star rating as well as Two MICHELIN Keys. Italian architect Antonio Citterio blended Balinese volcanic stone and hand woven thatched roofs with signature Milanese style, so the private pool villas feel modern and elegant while still having real Balinese character. That's why it is our pick for a polished clifftop honeymoon in Uluwatu.
The grounds follow the steep cliff with grand stone staircases and hilly paths, although a private buggy is always on call. A highlight of our visit was the funicular that glides down the cliff to a secluded beach, which felt incredibly private. The food was just as memorable. Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, created by the three-MICHELIN-starred Italian chef, served the finest dishes of our whole trip, while Sangkar offers casual dining on the cliff edge and La Spiaggia serves fresh seafood. The remote location keeps the resort wonderfully peaceful, but it also means you will need a car to reach restaurants and beach clubs outside the resort.

4. Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay
Between the airport and UluwatuLove it? Check prices now!
As one of the world's most luxury hotel chains, the Four Seasons is a brand that might not need an introduction. There are two Four Seasons hotels in Bali, one on the beach in Jimbaran, and one in the jungle near Ubud. This Four Seasons on the beach in Jimbaran is a great option: it is located on one of the best spots on the island, between the airport and Uluwatu, on a white sand beach, from where you can watch the sun setting over the Indian Ocean.
You won't regret booking a thatched-roof private pool villa - in the morning you may enjoy a floating breakfast, and in the late afternoon it will feel like the sun is setting just for you and your partner. High quality fine dining and wellness options will make your stay perfect.

5. Jumeirah Uluwatu
Dreamland Beach, North UluwatuLove it? Check prices now!
The Jumeirah Bali is located on Dreamland beach, just north of Uluwatu. The imposing main building is inspired by Javanese and Hindu influences. Due to the location of this resort on a beach facing west, it is a great spot to watch the sun setting over the Indian Ocean.
The Sunset Villa and Ocean Villa are both great options for couples looking to experience the luxury of the Jumeirah hotel. Enjoy the views together from your own private pool! But there's plenty to do around the hotel too. Make a visit to the Talise Spa, inspired by a Turkish Hammam from the Ottoman Empire. Or dine at the Akasa restaurant overlooking the Uluwatu cliffs. The beach near the resort is actually good for surfing.

6. Raffles Bali
Jimbaran, 25 min from UluwatuLove it? Check prices now!
Raffles Bali keeps things intimate with only 32 pool villas on a forested hillside above Jimbaran Bay, and that is exactly why we like it. The resort lies just south of Jimbaran, about 20 minutes from Bali's airport and 25 minutes from the cliffs of Uluwatu, yet it feels completely tucked away. It holds Two MICHELIN Keys, and it is one of the few resorts in the area that is still surrounded by mature tropical forest.
Every villa has its own pool and garden with views over the Indian Ocean, and the Raffles butlers are on call day and night. For a special evening, couples can book a private seafood dinner in an oceanfront gazebo or even inside a cave! Rumari is the signature restaurant at the highest point of the resort and focuses on produce from across the archipelago, while guests also love the relaxed Loloan Beach Bar. The Writer's Bar is a nod to the literary history of the original Raffles in Singapore. Because the resort sits on a hillside, you will take buggy rides between your villa, the restaurants and the beach, but in our view the privacy is worth it.

7. The Ungasan Clifftop Resort
south cliffs, 20m drive east of UluwatuLove it? Check prices now!
The Ungasan Clifftop Resort arguably is located on Bali's best beach. Hidden between green cliffs, the white sand beach and turquoise-blue waters that you can only find on Bali's southernmost tip are reason alone to stay at Ungasan.
The Ungasan offers a luxurious selection of villas and bedroom suites. The one-bedroom ocean-view suite is our personal favorite for a perfect romantic getaway. It features a king-sized bed with direct ocean views, a large en-suite bathroom, a private plunge pool and garden.

Luxurious hotels in Ubud
Ubud is our favorite destination for couples visiting Bali. While Ubud is inland (there is no beach), the region offers some of the best high-end resorts on the island, often tucked away in river valleys with spectacular views over the Balinese jungle.
Ubud is the cultural capital of Bali. The town is rich in arts, culture and history. Explore the Saraswati temple complex, enjoy traditional Balinese dance performance at the Ubud Palace or visit one of the many museums. Outside of the town, you will find some of the prettiest views over jungle and traditional rice terraces. We have lived in Ubud and are keen to share our suggestions. Check our Ubud Honeymoon Guide for everything you should to know for a great vacation in Ubud.

8. Aksari Resort
In nature 25 min North of UbudLove it? Check prices now!
We stayed at the Aksari and believe its perfect for couples, read our full review here. The 5-star Aksari Resort is made for honeymooners. Located in a jungle area with breathtaking 180-degree forest views just 25 minutes north of Ubud town, you'll be sure to enjoy an intimate experience. Some of their villas offer a private pool for you to enjoy with your partner.
There is no need to head to town for dinner, as the Japanese Kojin restaurant on-site offers an excellent fine dining experience. Have a look at their honeymoon package, which includes a candle light dinner, Balinese massage for two, and romantic flower decoration on arrival.

9. Private jungle villa at Viceroy Bali
10m drive north of UbudLove it? Check prices now!
Viceroy Bali is our favorite luxury resort in Ubud, and it proves that a family-run resort can compete with the biggest international brands. It opened in 2005 with only 11 villas and was made for couples and honeymooners who want a quiet, private and upmarket stay. In 2018 Condé Nast Traveler readers voted it the No. 1 resort in the world, and it earned a MICHELIN Key in the 2026 selection.
Today its 40 pool villas overlook the Petanu River valley, which locals call the Valley of the Kings, with Mount Batur in the distance. The marble bathrooms with sunken or soaking tubs are magnificent, and we love the jungle views from CasCades restaurant. There is also a pool with a swim-up bar, a hillside spa and a modern gym, while the private helipad means a helicopter transfer from the airport takes just 12 minutes. Best of all, the resort feels secluded but is only 5 to 10 minutes by car from Ubud's main street, and a shuttle is available. The villas are spread across a hillside, so expect some walking. And since there is no beach, this is a stay for jungle lovers, so check our Ubud honeymoon guide for everything else to do nearby.

10. Buahan by Banyan Tree
Payangan, North UbudLove it? Check prices now!
Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape is the most daring stay on our list. It sits in the village of Buahan in Payangan, about 40 minutes north of central Ubud, and it opened in 2022 as the first property in Banyan Tree's Escape collection. This adults-only retreat has held Two MICHELIN Keys since 2025, and the inspectors even praised its "intimate (and very fine) restaurant". The Balinese architect Gede Kresna designed its 16 bale villas without walls or doors, so the pool villa we stayed in had nothing between us and the rainforest, the river valley and the mountains beyond.
Meals at the Open Kitchen are made with ingredients from the resort's own gardens and local farmers, and daily yoga and meditation are included in your stay. Guests must be 18 or older, which keeps the atmosphere peaceful, and we don't see that as a downside at all. Before you book, though, know that living this close to nature means insects and humidity are part of the experience. The steep paths have many steps, so hold on to each other, and the portions are fairly small, so ask for extra protein from the first night. The drive from the airport also takes about two hours, so plan enough nights to make the most of it. For couples who truly want to unplug, we think it is worth every step.

11. Capella Ubud
Keliki, North UbudLove it? Check prices now!
A sense of calm washed over us the moment we arrived at Capella Ubud. Bill Bensley designed this camp in the rainforest of Keliki village, north of Ubud, and his tents are styled like the camps of 1800s explorers and face the Wos River Valley. We are clearly not the only fans, because Travel + Leisure readers voted it the No. 1 hotel in the world in 2020. Today it holds Two MICHELIN Keys and a Forbes Four-Star rating, and it is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
There are only 22 tents and one lodge across nine acres of jungle, and the small details made our stay feel magical. Each tent has a copper bathtub and its own saltwater pool surrounded by the Keliki forest. We loved the cozy chef's table dinner at Api Jiwa and the laid back atmosphere at the Officers Tent, while the restaurant Mads Lange is named after the Danish trader once known as Bali's unofficial king. Be prepared for a few trade offs, though. The canvas walls let in the sounds of the jungle and the neighboring tents, the pool water feels very cold in the morning and the terraced grounds have many stone steps. Still, if you love nature and a good story, Capella offers a truly memorable jungle adventure.

12. Four Seasons Sayan Ubud
Sayan, 15min west of UbudLove it? Check prices now!
If you are ready to splurge on your honeymoon, you can't go wrong with Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan. It sits in a lush jungle valley about 15 minutes west of Ubud, and it helped put Ubud's river valleys on the world map of luxury travel. Travel + Leisure readers named it the best hotel in the world in 2018. Today it still holds a Forbes Five-Star rating together with a MICHELIN Key, and only five resorts in Indonesia can say they have both.
The arrival is one of the most dramatic in Asia, because you walk across a suspension bridge onto a lotus pond that is actually the roof of the main building. From there you descend into the Ayung River valley, where private villas with infinity pools look out over the jungle, the river and the terraced rice paddies. Add superb wellness at the Sacred River Spa, which has its own Forbes Four-Star rating, and staff who go out of their way to make your honeymoon perfect. We know this resort is above the budget of most honeymoons, and its many steps and slopes make it less suitable for guests with limited mobility. But if you are going to splurge, do it in Bali, because the value for money here is better than almost anywhere else.

At night the sky lights up and the stars are so visible here they look like a city. Don't miss out on the bonfire! With only 6 cabins (some with jacuzzi!), Munduk cabin is the best luxury sanctuary you'll find in central Bali.
