Couples’ spas in Bali we’d book for a honeymoon, from cliff rituals to jungle flower baths

A couples’ spa in Bali is a treatment you book side by side, usually a Balinese massage followed by a scrub and a flower bath, in a room or villa made for two. Many of these rituals go back centuries: lulur, the turmeric and rice scrub still used in many treatments, started out in the royal courts of Java as a ritual to prepare a bride before her wedding. Below are the 15 couples’ spas we’d recommend, grouped by region, from Uluwatu’s clifftops to the rice fields of Ubud.

Most honeymooners spend the first few days rushing, from the airport to the villa to the first sunset dinner. A long spa afternoon is the easiest way to hit the brakes. Besides lulur, look out for boreh, a warming paste of spices and rice that farmers once rubbed on after a long day in the rice fields. Both now feature in treatments built for two, from clifftop pavilions in Uluwatu to open-air bale (pavilions) facing the rice fields in Ubud. We’ve sorted the list by region, because where you’re staying usually decides which spa is realistic for an afternoon.

One tip before you book: most of these spas only have one or two couples’ rooms, and they’re in demand all year. Message the spa a few days ahead instead of turning up and hoping for a free slot.

Opening hours and treatment names reflect what we found when this article was last updated. Spas in Bali change their menus often, so please confirm the details with the spa, or with us, before you book.

Uluwatu couples’ spas: clifftop rituals and ocean views

Uluwatu is a long drive from most other parts of Bali. But if you’d like to hear the ocean during your massage, this is the place.

1. Six Senses Uluwatu

Six Senses Uluwatu treats wellness as a whole way of living, not a menu of add-ons, and keeps every treatment simple and restorative. On the coral cliffs of Uluwatu, the couples’ ritual pairs a side-by-side massage with scrubs made from herbs grown in the spa’s own garden. It all happens in a pavilion with walls that open up, so the sea breeze and the sound of the waves become part of the treatment. It’s the biggest splurge on our list, and you’ll feel like you have the ocean to yourselves. One important update: the resort has been closed for a full renovation since February 1, 2026. It was expected to reopen in August, but the latest information points to December 2026, so check with us before you plan your dates around it.

Two things make it stand out: the boreh and lulur are mixed from herbs grown on site, which is rare at a resort this size, and the open pavilion lets the ocean breeze in for the whole treatment. Keep it for your splurge day, and since the resort is still closed, confirm it has reopened before you plan around it.

2. Anantara Uluwatu

Anantara’s signature treatment for two is the Sunset Couple’s Ritual, a traditional Balinese ceremony led by the resort’s High Priestess, Ibu Jero, a fifth-generation traditional healer. Over about 90 minutes, she guides you through a past life and chakra cleanse, then a water purification, and closes with a Balinese offering ceremony. It’s designed for engagements and weddings as much as for honeymoons. Of all the spas on this list, this is one of the most consistently praised, with guests mentioning it again and again across thousands of reviews.

This is a spiritual ceremony led by an actual priestess, not a spa product dressed up as one, and booking the sunset slot adds a lot to the moment. Just don’t come expecting deep tissue work, because the blessing comes first and the massage second. Several room types are available, so tell the team which one you’d like when you book.

Canggu and Sanur couples’ spas: easy to reach, different moods

Canggu and Sanur sit on opposite sides of the south coast. Canggu is lively and Sanur is sleepy, but both are close enough for a spa afternoon without a long drive.

3. Solace Float, Canggu

Every other spa on this list is about touch. Solace Float is about the opposite. Each of you floats in a private pod filled with body-temperature Epsom salt water, weightless, in near total darkness and silence, for a zero gravity session of around 90 minutes. Through the pod’s speakers, you can choose guided meditation or ambient sound, or simply float in silence. It’s nothing like a classic spa day and it won’t suit everyone, but guests often say they walk out feeling reset rather than pampered. Afterwards, you relax together in the lounge with tea, young coconut and a light snack.

If you’ve already had a few Balinese massages this trip, the float makes a nice change, and many guests find it more restorative than a regular treatment. Total darkness can be too much if either of you is even a little claustrophobic. Also keep in mind that you float in separate pods, so you share the experience without lying side by side.

4. Shankha Spa & Wellness, Sanur

Shankha Spa is inside the Hyatt Regency Bali in Sanur and takes its name from the sacred conch shell used in Hindu ceremonies. It’s open to everyone, so you can book in even if you’re staying at another resort. There are 10 free-standing treatment suites, an outdoor lap pool for spa guests and a full hydrotherapy circuit with a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and hot and cold plunge pools. Massages here combine deep tissue techniques with Ayurvedic principles, and the spa is open daily from 9am to 9pm, so it’s easy to fit in around a beach afternoon or dinner.

A good sign: reviewers keep naming their therapists. With a yoga shala, gym and juice bar on the same grounds, it’s easy to stay the whole day. Being a big hotel spa, the service is more formal than at Sanur’s independent spas, and most South Bali hotels are a taxi ride away.

5. Spa at Maya, Sanur

Set within the eco-friendly architecture of Maya Sanur Resort & Spa, the Spa at Maya specializes in longer rituals in private, air-conditioned couples’ suites that look out over the resort’s reflection pool and gardens. The 150-minute Holiday Detox starts with an aromatic foot soak, then moves on to a deep tissue massage and a green tea scrub, and finishes with a facial. If you’d prefer something lighter, the 120-minute Summer Rejuvenation combines nourishing treatments with a floral bath in a deep soaking tub. Senior therapists adjust the oils and massage pressure to each of you, and that personal touch matches the resort’s track record, with recognition including an Exquisite Media award, Tri Hita Karana accreditation and a Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice award.

Both packages come with a fixed list of treatments, so there are no surprises on the day, and couples booking Summer Rejuvenation get the floral bath at no extra charge. Doors open at 10am, later than Shankha Spa down the road, so it won’t work for an early slot. The mood is polished and a little formal, a contrast to Ubud’s jungle spas.

Ubud couples’ spas: jungle rituals and rice field views

No region does ceremonial spa experiences like Ubud. If a purification ceremony or a dosha consultation sounds appealing to you rather than gimmicky, start here.

6. Kamalini, Ubud

Kamalini means “lotus,” and its couples’ treatments are built around traditional Balinese healing instead of a standard massage menu. The highlight is a chakra-balancing massage with singing bowl vibrations, and the longer package adds a Kamalini foot ritual, a Balinese boreh scrub and a milk bath to finish. The spa, inside Arkamara Dijiwa Ubud, has only two private treatment rooms, so slots go quickly, yet it holds one of the strongest review records on our list. The jungle setting also gives you more privacy than most spas in the area, so book ahead.

Sound healing combined with a chakra-balancing massage is hard to find elsewhere in Ubud, and although Kamalini sits inside a working resort garden, you barely notice the other guests. Book well ahead for a couples’ slot, since there are only two rooms. The road in is narrow too, so check directions with your driver, or let us arrange the transfer.

7. Flying Bamboo, Ubud

Flying Bamboo Spa is on the upper floor of a bamboo building that’s open to the breeze, with rice fields and greenery all around. What keeps bringing us back is the four-hands massage, where two therapists work in sync so it feels like one long, continuous movement. Add traditional Balinese treatments with natural herbal scrubs and flower baths, and it’s easy to see why this spa has such a loyal following. Friendly staff, a peaceful setting and therapists who know their craft make it one of Ubud’s favorite boutique spas.

Nowhere else on this list puts you in an open-air bamboo building surrounded by greenery, and Botanist, the restaurant on the same grounds, makes it easy to turn the treatment into lunch or dinner. Sunset slots in the rooftop bamboo room go first. Bamboo also carries sound more than concrete, so expect to hear a little of what’s going on around you.

8. Svaha Spa Bisma, Ubud

At Kaamala Resort on Jalan Bisma, Svaha Spa Bisma by Wonderspace sits in a bamboo forest above a river valley, with the jungle spreading out below. Every visit starts with a proper consultation, where your therapist asks what your body needs and chooses the essential oils to match, before a calming Tibetan singing bowl ritual. From there, you move through a traditional Balinese massage and an herbal body scrub, then finish with the spa’s signature flower bath, all in a private room with its own hot tub facing the forest. The order can change slightly on the day, so confirm your sequence when you arrive.

The hot tub sits right in your treatment room, so you soak while looking out at the forest, and the light comes from real incense and oil lamps. Packages change from time to time, so check what’s included when you reserve. It’s also a short drive from central Ubud, too far to walk.

9. Putri Bali, Ubud

Don’t let the name fool you. Putri means “princess,” but this spa skips the drama and wins you over with skilled hands and a garden full of koi ponds that feels relaxing, never staged. More than a decade in business has earned Putri Bali a loyal local following, six years in a row of Tripadvisor’s Certificate of Excellence and prices well below Ubud’s fancier spas. The routine is simple: reception, a change of clothes, a Balinese massage or reflexology session, then a flower bath together to finish. What guests mention most isn’t the décor. It’s how unhurried it all feels, with no clock-watching and no rushing you out the door.

Over ten years of good reviews and repeat Tripadvisor awards credit the massage itself as much as the garden, and the prices are friendly for a full spa experience. In high season, send a WhatsApp before you go, because walk-ins often miss out. Come here for a great massage, not an elaborate ritual.

Sidemen and Tabanan couples’ spas: off the beaten path

If you’re staying somewhere calmer, Sidemen and Tabanan trade convenience for views that few other honeymooners get to see.

10. Kapha Spa at Wapa di Ume, Sidemen

Wake up to Mount Agung filling the whole horizon and you’ll understand why Kapha Spa made our list. The name comes from Ayurveda, where kapha is one of the three core doshas, and the spa sits inside the five-star Wapa di Ume Sidemen with a hillside view that’s worth the trip on its own. Three private treatment rooms look out over Sidemen’s rice terraces and valley. The couples’ package includes a massage, a body scrub or mask and a bath ritual, followed by herbal tea and cookies. Reviewers often rank it among the top spas in Sidemen, and once you see the view, you’ll agree.

Few spas on this list can match this Mount Agung view from the treatment rooms, and with three rooms in total, you never feel like one of many. From South Bali it’s a long drive, so it makes most sense if you’re already staying in the area. The menu changes with the seasons, so confirm the inclusions first.

11. Riverside Spa by Ulaman, Tabanan

Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort is built mostly from bamboo and rammed earth, and that eco-first approach carries straight into Riverside Spa, where your treatment takes place next to the resort’s own river under the jungle canopy. Hot and cold plunge pools, a sauna and a steam room easily turn one treatment into a whole afternoon. The resort has also opened a second spa, the Waterfall Spa, closer to its twin waterfalls, so if that view is what you’re after, ask which spa your booking is for. Either way, expect Balinese massage, hot stone therapy and body scrubs in a setting very different from a typical resort spa.

The award-winning riverside setting has no match in Bali’s usual honeymoon areas, and the plunge pools, sauna and steam room easily fill an afternoon. Tabanan is far from those areas, though, so plan it as a day trip. If the waterfall view matters to you, check whether you’re booked at Riverside Spa or the Waterfall Spa.

Kuta and Legian couples’ spa: a practical escape

We’ve said it before: Kuta isn’t our favorite honeymoon base. But if you’re spending a night here before or after a flight, there’s a proper escape close by.

12. Anjali Spa by Astagina Resort, Legian

Just off one of the busiest stretches of Legian, Astagina Resort Villa & Spa is home to Anjali Spa, which somehow stays serene despite everything happening outside. Short on time? The one-hour Romantic Couple Treatment includes a 45-minute Balinese massage, then 15 minutes in a flower milk jacuzzi with a celebration drink. Have a free afternoon? Book the Sweet Dream Couple Treatment instead, a three-hour sequence of massage, scrub, mask and facial that ends with the same flower milk jacuzzi. Guests regularly name their therapists in reviews and rate it among the best couples’ spa experiences in the area.

Having two lengths to choose from helps on a tight schedule, and both packages were designed with honeymoons and anniversaries in mind. Getting there means dealing with Legian’s traffic, even if the spa itself is an oasis. Couples’ rooms are limited and slots can fill more than a month ahead, so reserve early.

Nusa Dua and Jimbaran couples’ spas: five-star resort polish

The spas around Nusa Dua and Jimbaran belong to some of Bali’s best-known resort brands. You’ll find fewer surprises here, but very reliable five-star service.

13. The Apurva Spa, Nusa Dua

The Apurva Spa sits on the cliffside at the front of The Apurva Kempinski Bali, in a building inspired by Bali’s temple architecture, and most of its 14 treatment rooms come with ocean views. Look beyond the signature couples’ massage and you’ll find something most resort spas don’t offer: meditation and singing bowl sessions built on Javanese and Balinese wellness wisdom, with no invented theme. Facials and body scrubs complete the menu, but it’s the meditation that guests mention most, along with the calm, unhurried pace of every therapist.

Ocean views in most treatment rooms keep the scenery with you mid-massage, and the meditation sessions set it apart from a standard resort spa menu. It’s part of a large luxury resort, so service is on the formal side. Nusa Dua’s gated resort area also leaves little to explore beyond the property.

14. AYANA Spa, Jimbaran

AYANA Resort Bali is home to what it calls the world’s largest Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool, part of its Thermes Marins Bali spa. The pool is filled with water from the Indian Ocean below and has twelve hydromassage stations with more than 60 jets, geysers and micro-bubble features. For couples, the Diamond Miracle treatment is the one to look at, ending with an ocean-splash rose bath made with petals from 500 red roses. Want complete privacy? The two clifftop treatment villas of Spa on the Rocks sit on rocks right above the water.

You won’t find an Aquatonic pool like this anywhere else in Bali, and the Spa on the Rocks villas give you complete privacy. Weekend slots go fast, and prices sit at the top end even for a Bali resort spa. Expect a bit of walking between the spa villas and the main resort, too.

📍 View on Google Maps

15. Avisha Wellness & Spa, Jimbaran

Bright, colorful interiors greet you the moment you walk into Avisha Wellness & Spa, and reviewers all say the same thing: it doesn’t feel like a typical spa. It’s best known for the Signature Mangosteen Touch, built around the mangosteen fruit and reportedly the first treatment of its kind in Bali. A short questionnaire lets each of you choose your own oils and massage pressure before you start. The practical extras help too: there’s luggage storage, and the doors stay open from 11am to 11pm every day, easy to fit around an early or late flight from nearby Ngurah Rai Airport.

The mangosteen treatment is a real point of difference, and the long hours plus luggage storage are handy on a flight day. Reviews are split on value: some call it the best spa in Jimbaran, others find it overpriced. The last booking is at 9pm, so plan your slot around that.

Which Bali couples’ spa should you book?

For the crowd favorites, start with Kamalini and Flying Bamboo in Ubud, which guests rate most consistently (Kamalini has only two rooms, so plan ahead). If you’d like a real ceremony instead of a spa treatment with a fancy name, choose Anantara’s Sunset Couple’s Ritual, with a High Priestess at its center. For the most unusual feature, AYANA’s Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool in Jimbaran has no equal on the island, and for something different in a completely other way, try the float pods at Solace in Canggu. Staying in Nusa Dua? The Apurva’s meditation sessions add some depth to classic resort polish. And if you’re short on time or watching your budget, Putri Bali is the best-value pick on the list.

Whichever you choose, plan the rest of the day around it instead of squeezing it between two other activities. Pair an Ubud spa afternoon with a slow morning in the rice terraces, or an Uluwatu sunset ritual with dinner nearby.
